fiber optic communication

Fiber optic communication is sending information from one place to another by "sending pulses of light through optical fiber." Because of its advantages, optical fiber has replaced copper wire communications. It has been around since the 1970s and played a major role in the Information Age.
Fiber optics are used by many telecommunication companies. It transmits telephone signals, internet communication can always be from fiber optics and cable television signals. Using fiber optics, there are little interruptions rather then that of copper wire.

wireless networking precautions

Wireless networking is something a lot of homes now have. It is important to keep them private and secured. If wireless networking in your home is not secured then people who live close to the wireless networking can look at the online activity that goes on in the wireless network. Other than spying, someone could also get access to the hard drive that the network is hooked up to.
Wireless networking is also not free, people living around the network could steal the connection. Also, if they are doing something illegal, it could be tracked back to the person who owns the wireless network who gets in trouble for something they did not do. Things have become more safer and there should be no reason for a hacker to get into someones wireless network without permission.

Strong Password (how to create and use them)

Everyone who have accounts on the internet, like an email, need to be particular about the way they create their password. Privacy is key to everyone, especially on the internet. If a password is stolen, important information can be stolen. There are a few steps in creating a strong password.
One way is to make a sentence that you will be able to remember, but others could not think of. Use the first letters of every word in that sentence to create the base of your password. To make it stronger, lower case and upper cased letters can be put into your password as well. Make sure your password is long enough for people not tobe able to guess it. Avoid having things such as "123" or "Abc."

internet monitoring, blocking and tracking

Not only can anyone filter out their internet, but they can also monitor everything that happens. Software like Spector Pro can keep track of basically anything. It can keep records of emails, messaging, chatting, websites that are being viewed.
Not only can softwares do these things, but now they can also warn you if the computer that the software is being used on is being used in an inappropriate manner. Internet monitoring, blocking, and tracking is a new way of making children safe or to make sure no one is doing things that they are not supposed to be doing.

internet filters

An internet filter is software that allows the internet viewer to block out certain websites that they do not want to watch. It is like having a water filter to take away the bad things. Most of the time parents/guardians get internet filters when children are going to be on the internet. A benefit of having the filters is that it not only blocks out certain websites, but can also control who the children are communicating with and control how long they are on the computer for.

Internet filters are used not only by parents, but also by schools. Schools can now block certain websites such as Twitter or Facebook when students are at school. Businesses can block their employees as well from using the internet access found at work for other things besides work. Spam can also be blocked from going to an inbox. Internet filters can do many things for a computer anymore if they are needed.

Internet Parental Guidance

The internet is now something that can be used to search for anything. It is faster to search the internet rather than to find something in a book. Anybody and mostly everybody uses the internet nowadays. That includes the young and old, crazy and sane. The internet is no longer safe anymore, it has been corrupted like many other things in this world. You can now find things like pornography and drug information. Mostly every parent and guardian will not want children to be able to search things like that.Parents can do a few things to make sure their children are not using the internet in the wrong way. They can learn more about the internet and how it works, watching your children when they are on the internet also allows you to spend time with them. There are softwares now that allow anyone to block these types of materials.

Parents should stay informed about the new technologies that come out to help block sites that should not be viewed by younger kids. Also, parents should make sure their children are not interacting with strangers. If kids are not supposed to talk to strangers on the street, likewise they should not be talking with strangers on the internet.
